Motown in Mudgee 2009
Gooree Park Wines was very proud to host the first ever “Motown In Mudgee” charity event featuring the amazingly talented James Morrison and his big band on Saturday 7th November 2009.
The atmosphere was abuzz with 1000 people enjoying the sounds of Motown amongst the picturesque surrounds of the Gooree Park Stud property located between Mudgee & Gulgong. James took us back in time featuring some of the greatest artists ever, with songs by Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder and the Jackson 5 just to name a few. It wasn’t long before everyone was dancing, singing or tapping to the beat of these great hits that have been etched in time.
The day started with the talented St. Matthews School band conducted by Mr Gavin Tipping and featured some classic Australian favourites that we all know and love.
Mr Tim Shaw, “but wait there’s more” was our M. C. and ensured the day ran smoothly, also enjoying some of the Gooree Park Merlot on offer.
The day was put together to help raise much needed funds and awareness of the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation of Australia. Muscular Dystrophy or MD is a neuromuscular genetic disorder that there is no known cure. Approximately 20,000 Australians are affected in which approximately 7,000 live in NSW.
Jeanette Tioseco, Gooree Parks’ Business Manager, presented Mr David Jack (CEO Of MDF Australia) a cheque for $10,000.00 and along with an impromptu auction for a signed Motown In Mudgee 09 shirt, signed James Morrison’s Blowing my own Trumpet along with a personalised Happy Birthday DVD featuring James on trumpet, and even a set of steak knives from Tim Shaw, an additional $12,300.00 was raised, thanks to the auctioneering talent of Mr Geoff Bartlett of O’Brien Bartlett Real Estate in Mudgee.
This event would not have come together without the support of local businesses. Gooree Park Wines would like to take this opportunity to thank the following organisations: Domayn Party Hire 2MG/Real FM Mudgee Guardian Mudgee Regional Tourist Information Centre Spinifex Illustration & Design Mudgee & Gulgong Security SES Volunteers Red Cross Volunteers Rural Fire Service Volunteers
This day was certainly enjoyed by all and one truly worth remembering. There has been a clamour for “Motown In Mudgee 2010 ” so better stay tuned!!!!~~~
